Scripture tells us that the coming of Jesus is inevitable. But we do not know the day or the hour. It may not even happen in our lifetime but the coming of Jesus should affect the way we live now. Here are three important ways that you can prepare yourself for the coming of our Savior.

Encourage other Believers

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

The coming of the Lord will signal the end of human or earthly suffering. Those who are faithful will be called to reside with the Lord. People all around us are suffering from persecution, loss, ill health, and other burdens. Your duty as a Christian is to encourage them to bear their burdens with humility and grace. Remind them of the promise of the Lord’s return so that they may wait in joyful hope.

Share the Gospel

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14

In this verse, Matthew affirmed that Christianity was never designed to be an exclusive practice. It is crucial to share the Gospel with those around you because as a Christian you are an ambassador of Christ and it is when all nations are reconciled to God, that He will come again.

Live with expectancy

Living with the expectancy of Jesus’ return doesn’t mean you should sell your house and possessions. Living with the expectation of Christ’s return means that you always have His return on your mind. Pray, prepare yourself spiritually, and practice forgiveness so that you are ready to meet him at any hour.
